About Carina…

I am one of 26 riders, from all over the world, setting off on the 22^nd August to compete in The Mongol Derby.  This is no ordinary race - it will take me through 1000km of the "Land of the Blue Sky" on horseback, following in the hoof prints of Chinggis Khan’s messengers.  I hope that this has grabbed your attention and I urge you to read on….

I am less than two weeks away from embarking on this horseback adventure across Mongolia! I have very nearly reached my target of £1000 for the Mercy Corps and now hope to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.  If you would like to support me by donating to either of these charities please go to my Charities page where there are links to the Just Giving web sites. 

I grew up on a farm on Scotland and started to ride ponies from a young age, with varying degrees of success!  I was incredibly stubborn and refused to give up despite ending up in the mud on many many occasions.  I made my way through the ranks of the East Lothian Pony Club and represented  my area in Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing. I later turned to eventing horses, again with varying degrees of success!  After leaving school I trained in New Zealand for a while before returning to the UK to take up a place at Aberdeen University. Unfortunately the eventing had to take a back seat as my student loan wouldn't stretch that far!
